A complete report answers several questions
Net result, trade count, drawdown and included costs describe different aspects of a test. One headline number does not establish reliability. Keep the full report and its assumptions, not only the most favorable result selected from many experiments.
Ten hypothetical trades
Six trades earn two units each and four lose one unit each. Total gains are 12, absolute losses are 4 and net result is 8 units. The unit is abstract: it is not a dollar amount or a percentage of equity. This is original teaching arithmetic, not BamaUp trading performance.
Three distinct measurements
Win rate is six out of ten, or 60%. Profit factor is total gains divided by absolute total losses: 12 divided by 4 equals 3. Average result per trade is 8 divided by 10, or 0.8 units. These measurements are not interchangeable and cannot establish future returns from this small sample.
Deduct a cost only once
Assume costs have not yet been deducted. A cost of 0.3 units per trade totals 3 units across ten trades. After-cost net result is 5 and average result is 0.5 units. Do not subtract an expense twice when it is already included in the report. State the exact definition and assumption.
Drawdown, sequence and undefined ratios
The same total result can arise from different trade sequences and drawdowns. Balance is not current equity including open positions. Exact drawdown cannot be calculated from the final total alone. If the sample contains no losses, a zero denominator makes profit factor undefined; a large or undefined display does not demonstrate a risk-free strategy.
Assignment and completion criterion
Prepare a one-page summary: win rate 60%, profit factor 3, raw average 0.8 and average after the specified costs 0.5 units. Explain why exact drawdown cannot be obtained without the ordered path. Identify what the ten-trade example cannot establish about reliability.
Next we examine execution costs and assumptions in more detail.
Examples are hypothetical teaching material, not a trading track record or guarantee.
